The Challenge Board - A tool to diversify and motivate learning
A Challenge Board is a "board" or group of diverse activities, projects, etc. surrounding elements of a curriculum unit. Students choose activities/challenges to accomplish over the set amount of time. Activities/Challenges can cover a specific topic, or unit of study, and vary in length from a few days to a month.
The number of challenges are guided by a value or point system assigned to each challenge. Each activity has a point value and students must collect a certain number of points by doing the activities.
Activities draw from a large range of learning styles, strengths and abilities, and can be further modified for additional learning needs. Student choice provides for motivation, and alternative means of action and expression to demonstrate knowledge of materials.
